coming up today we're gonna talk about the Sens skills competition, which was held on Sunday. And to break it down for us as the man who won the Hardest Shot Competition, 1 0 3, sun Change, that's when you're Drake Matherson 1 0 3 point. Uh, Drake Bathon gets us up to speed on what is up with the sends right now, including the latest on the injuries. We'll, to talk about, uh, some ladies out for the skills competition. Tyler Bouche hurt once again and some sends trivia. All still ahead today here on the Jim k Ford's Sends Nation podcast. It's Steve Warne, along with the coach, Gregg Kennedy. Greg, what's going on? Well, no technical difficulties today, Steve. I'm, I'm glad to be joining you again, . Excellent, excellent. Yeah, it's, uh, yeah, well we do. We, for those who don't, who don't listen, who can't listen to every show, there's another opportunity for you to hear this show. And it's happening on City News, both on 1310 and 1 0 1 1. And we did have a bit of a technical glitch, which unfortunately knocked you off our debut show on City News. Yeah. But, uh, you'll be back next week. And, uh, so that's happening every Saturday morning at nine. So we're pretty excited about that. Just another opportu. Another platform for the show to reside on. And a, as we, you know, we've come to know over these last couple of years, Greg, that's one of the great challenges of the podcast. It's not about, necessarily about putting out good content, which I think we do. It's about letting people know we exist. And I think that's the challenge of every podcaster. Exactly. And, and it's, and we are so appreciative of the people who do, uh, find us wherever they find us and listen to us. It's, it's great. And we're, we're always happy when we get some feedback, be it positive or negative. I know it's a lot of your, uh, poll questions. Get some things and every once in a while we get questions and we welcome all of it. And we appreciate all of. Yeah, absolutely. Don't forget, we always love when you connect with us. Uh, you can do so at Sends Nation podcast@outlook.com. If there's something you want to hear us talk about regarding the sends, if you have feedback for the show, we'd love to hear from you because you helped make this show better and our website, as always, all kinds of cool stuff there, we urge you to check that out. Sends nation hockey.com. The Send Skills competition was held on Sunday, kind of something to just sort of get us past that bizarre Seattle result. Eight to four lost to the Kraken on Saturday night. Uh, I think the less said about that game the better. It's one of those games you just sort of crumple up and throw over your shoulder. Fellas, we're never gonna speak of this again. And, and it, it's like it never happened. , uh, and focus more on the fact that you'd won four or five going into the game. But the skills competition's always a lot of fun, I think, for young families to go out, and it's a neat opportunity for the, for the players to kinda let their hair down. There's no pressure at all. Just a, a fun, fun atmosphere, and they haven't done it a while because of covid. Yeah, it, and, and by all accounts a good crowd. They were entertained. It was probably a lot of fun. And, uh, I, I, I've, I can honestly say I've never been to one, uh, actually, no, sorry, I did go to one, but there, I, I wish I could go to this one because it sounded like it was, there was some surprises in some of the winners. Yeah. I think the biggest one, not to say for our, our p Drake Matherson, who is standing by to join us here in a little, Um, not to say he doesn't have a great shot cuz he does, uh, great release. I think what he relies on in games as most n h Lrs do is quickness of release. So you don't necessarily see that five, six strides and then just absolutely wind up big old backswing and hammering it. Not many guys do that unless they're at the top. The power play. But you know, Bathon did that today and, and it was fantastic. And so he's got a good shot and he showed it up today and we'll talk to Drake about that in a second. But the big surprise for me was Mark Castek. Here's a guy that's, uh, I believe still technically a rookie. Obviously a very young in his NHL career, but he was the fastest skater. On a team with all the rocket fuel that the Ottawa senators possess, it's Mark Castek, who's the fastest skater. Were you surprised by that? Like most Oh, yeah. Incredible. Like, I totally shocked I, when, when Drake told us that I, I kind of, whoa, really? And, uh, but I guess, you know, the whole idea of the taller guy looks like he's not moving too quick. But, uh, I would've thought like a brostrom or a, or even a Sanderson, uh, I mean e even Timmy Stutz law, I thought somebody else would've, I would've never, never taken Castle in the fastest skater. I like the way he skates. Uh, I think it's just a matter of, uh, he's a lot like Colin Greening was back in the day. Mm-hmm. Colin Greening had a similar body type. and he wasn't quick per se. He wouldn't be the guy you would choose, you know, to be standing in the faceoff circle in the offensive zone to sprint to the far post. He wouldn't be the first guy you'd choose for that. But like Castek, once he gets up to speed, he's going and he's uh, he's tough to slow down. So, um, it makes you wonder about Mark Castle's future with all the skills he does possess. because he's a big body. He can thunder Guys, we were reminded on Sunday that he is a hell of a skater. And by the way, if you look at the career faceoff stats, I looked this up before the show Career Faceoff Stats. He's right behind Clojure, like very, very close. He's like 59 in change, where his er jeru is around 60% so far for the sends. Um, I believe that's third all. and it's, it's a small sample size, but third, all time among sends in face off percentage. So you got that going for you as well. You know, in Junior that he was an excellent scorer. He was putting up, you know, 40 some goals a year in the Western Hockey League for a couple of years. I think the thing about him that's maybe holding him back from being a really major impact player and maybe contributing a little more offensively is a, is a sort of an over excitability when he gets that. He does not look like a comfortable hockey player to me yet. If he can find whatever comfort level he had back in junior with a puck again, he might be a guy that can really, really be an asset in that bottom six as secondary scoring. Yeah, I'd agree. Uh, I, to your point earlier there, he seems like that guy who, when he gets in all alone or he gets a good scoring, glorious chance, he doesn't quite seem to be able to finish, but he does get goals. They're just come different ways. They're usually off a rebound or a a little cycle play and fire one at the net and it goes in. He doesn't sort seem to score the pretty ones. But what's his future here like? He's, he's definitely a bottom six, I would think. You know, is he, is he a guy? That's your long-term answer as third line center. Is he? Is he debuting here and doing enough that maybe Ridley Greg is a guy that's expendable to get you your fourth line, or sorry, top four d I mean, coming up down the road, it'll be interesting to see he's another. Who's proven that he can play in this league and play a consistent role, uh, especially with the, the face off dot. Like that alone might put him ahead of other people who, who might be considered for the position that he plays. Yeah, no, I think a nice player and a nice asset and, uh, I'm really the keen to see what, what he'll bring to the table because, uh, you know, even before we start talking about any offense, he, he's doing the kinds of things you wanted at your bottom six. But I'd also throw in, you know, I can't even picture a power play where Brady KA Chuck isn't in front of the net screening and, and cramming in the ugly goals. I feel like that, uh, you know, if Castle just gets a little more offensive swagger that maybe there's a role for him on power Play unit number two in that same sort of capacity, can you see that? Yeah, for sure. And, and let's not also lose sight of the fact that he's big, strong physical and brings a little bit of an edge to the table too. That's something that is probably not, there's not a lot of that in this lineup. I mean, outside of an Austin Watson and we've all said we don't wanna see Brady Kuck fighting as much as he does. You know, Castella can bring that sort of nastiness to the program. Yeah. And that's another part that can get a minutes, uh, on a regular basis in the nhl. Totally. Another guy that's going to rely on his physical game is Tyler Bouche, and we've talked at length about him, about the wisdom of him being selected. 10th overall in the 2021 draft and this year he's percolating. He made Team usa. He's been very good for the 60 sevens. Unfortunately, it seems like he doesn't go very long without either being suspended or getting injured. Um, last January shoulder. This January shoulder injury, sometime in that Team Canada team s a game, he suffered another shoulder injury. We're not sure exactly what the nature of the shoulder injury is. He did, he wasn't in a sling when he was picking up his bronze medal. He missed the bronze medal game, but he was there to get a, to get the medal. But, uh, yeah, it, that's gotta be a little discouraging for the kid because it's start. Simmer for him as a prospect? Yeah. I mean, here's a guy who had settled in here in Ottawa playing with his 60 sevens, found a role was, was playing and playing quite a, quite a bit for them and scoring goals for them, which probably was more than was expected. I think he was always more of a physical presence and a guy who was gonna be, you know, first guy in on the four check and grind down low and set things up, not necessarily a finisher. but he was looking good, and hopefully this is just a short term thing and he can get back into the lineup because I, I, I really think that he nee well, I don't even have to think it. We all know it. The guy needs to play and needs to play a lot for, for his development, for, for what he's gone through in the last two years. Back to the skills competition for a moment, just to wrap up this segment before we bring Drake. I wanted to talk about the fact that the senators brought out a couple of Ottawa's finest female hockey players, bringing out Jamie Lee Ratri and Rebecca Leslie, who are both, uh, absolute top-notch players. Uh, Jamie Lynn Ratri has, Jamie Lee Ratri has won a couple of gold medals and, uh, I thought that was a good thing and it got me thinking about how to see them with sends jerseys. and out there with the guys, it got me to thinking about the road to success for Pro Women's Hockey. Um, to me that's where, that's where it's got to go. If it has any hope at all. They've got this tour that they do among the top players that is named after sponsors. It's good hockey, but there's nothing really at stake for the fan to kind of glom onto. , uh, you've got, um, you know, they've had attempts at Prow Women's Leagues. To me, it's the only way it's going to be successful where women, I mean, this will be the fastest way to do it. I can't say it's the only way, but get an affiliation with the N H l stop with these leagues that you're trying to get going. It's got to be the N H L. Uh, and, and I saw, you know, watching the ladies out there with the sends uniforms on, get the uniform. Of the NHL players get their nicknames, even maybe do some doubleheaders, play some ladies games. They're the lady senators taking on the Lady Bruins or whatever it is before the game and have a doubleheader. I think that is the road to success for women's hockey. But, uh, regardless of how you think it's gonna get there, it was cool to see them, the senators really, you know, helping promote women's hockey. Yeah. And there's, there is a lady sends team, right? Like, I don't know what official affiliation they have with the team right now, but there's always been the lady sends. Um, but you're right if, but not pro. Correct. If there's going to be a pro league that it this just in, it costs money. And the women have made it clear in their, their sort of shutdown there of a year ago that, that they, they expect to be paid. They, they want more money. And I, I mean, I, I can't fault them. What they do is they do it better than anybody else. So they want to have a league and they want that league to, to, to flourish and they want to be treated like professionals or at least paid like professionals. . Yeah. Where are you gonna get that? Money? Sponsor's gonna put up that money. I, so far nobody's putting up enough to, to run a team to the level that the, that the women deserve and expect. So it's going to take sort of an N h L, uh, n b a w n b a n h l w n h l kind of thing is the only way it's gonna work at the highest levels so that we can see what the, what the women want. Gary Bettman has been asked about it before and he's always. Well, we don't want to be responsible for, you know, the end of an existing league. Um, if, uh, if there, if there's a void, then we'll enter that void, but there hasn't been a void cuz there's always been a C W H L or an end at w h L. So until there is a void, Gary Bettman is kind of staying out of it, which might be just a convenient excuse to, to not bother with it. I don't. But, uh, I think it'd be good for everybody. I think it'd be good for the N H L. I think it would be good. Obviously, big time for ladies hockey. So, um, anyway, that was just something that popped into my head today, watching that skills competition. Today, we'll take a time outta the program. When we come back, we'll be joined by the man with the hardest shot on the Ottawa Senators. That's Drake Matherson. And that's coming up after these words. Done Robin Distilleries and Jim k Ford, along with Kodiak Security Systems. In a moment, we're gonna get to our sends trivia question. We're going mano a mano. We've each got a question for the other, but first, our conversation earlier today with Drake Bath. How'd you enjoy the skills competition on Sunday? It's probably kind of nice to connect with the fans in sort of a laid back environment like that. Yeah, no, it was pretty fun. Uh, I mean, we hadn't had one since January, 2020, right before the first Covid, so, um, been a few years since we've done it and pretty good turnout too, so, no, it was awesome. And a couple, uh, young kids were out doing some competitions on the ice too. as well as a couple of the Canadian national women's girls. So it was awesome. Yeah. And you, and you won the hardest shot. Was this expected? Who was the betting favorite? Yeah, I think, uh, well the last time I did a Nick, Paul won it, I think, I, I forget what he shot. Maybe around 1 0 2 or 1 0 3, and I actually went in it back in 20 when I was 98. , and I remember shabby was like 1 0 2 or something back then, and we were lined up against each other. Today, me and Sha. and I went first. I got like 96 on my first one, and then I got 1 0 2 0.9. On my second one, he got 1 0 2 0.5 and everyone else went. But I think the highest after us was like a hundred. So we went at championship round and then I got 1 0 1 on my first one, and then 1 0 3 0.9 on my second, and he was like 98. 98. So, Yeah, we put a little wager on the line too. A little burger and sweet potato fries. So he owes me that . Were you in on any of that wager with Team Canada and Team usa? Yeah. I mean, we. It was Sanderson and Brady against me and shabby. Um, we actually never came up with anything before the game, cuz it was like the morning of, we decided we're gonna do a thing and uh, I think we decided maybe just a lunch on the next road trip or something. Nothing, nothing too crazy. It would've been nice to have like a team Canada, jersey for today's skills competition Yeah. To wear. But, uh, yeah, no, it would've been a good idea, but I didn't think of it till. Now they say that and, and it's obvious, younger players that come into the league now are so much more skilled than it used to be. But I'm interested even in a small little window here, how much more skilled do you think these guys are now compared to even you Like, like these guys are incredible. Are they not? Yeah. It's funny, like me and my cousin were talking about it the other night and he's like, man, like imagine all these kids like seeing these Michigan moves and stuff. Wait till like five, 10 years down the line, when these guys come in the league, their hands are gonna be unbelievable. I'm like, I never thought about it, but like kids at home are probably just doing these moves like Yeah, all the time. And yeah, even now, like the young guys coming in, like the young stars around the league, they're all super talented, unbelievable hands and uh, you know, they're able to produce right away cuz they're sub. I wonder if Conor Badard ends up on Anaheim with Trevor Seagrass. What kind of magician, uh, sorcery that they're gonna come up with potentially next year. But that's, that's a long way down the road. But, uh, one more thing on the, on the hardest shot, Drake. You, you hear some players, you know, they talk about, you know, okay, we destroyed the garage door, or we, you know, beat up the closed dryer in the basement. Uh, did you have a particular spot that you used to work on your shot to get it where it is? Yeah, like I remember we built a house when we first moved from Germany to Canada and it had an unfinished basement. So it was all like cement walls, cement floor, and like pretty much half the side of the basement was just so I could shoot pox. And like I remember one year, it was like my first or second year, Adam, we had a like shooting pox competition as a team and I ended up shooting like 15,000 pucks or something in a certain amount of. and like, it was funny, I was going to high school years later and we moved into another house and I was going to high school with a girl, um, who bought the house off us. I'm like, is it all those puck parks still on the wall down there in the basement? She's like, oh, yeah, they're still still down there. So, no, it was a lot of time down there and honestly, like whether it was in the backyard, the driveway of the, the basement, I was always. Ripping pox and you know, in the summertime we didn't have ice in my hometown, so that's all you could do Nowadays, I feel like everywhere the kids are skating all year round, but I never went on the ice from, you know, April to August say. So I was doing that a lot and I, I think it's safe to say your shot is probably. The strongest part of your game? Like you're looked more as a, a shooter, a goal score type guy. Now, have you always had that? I'm, I'm always interested in goal scores and, and confidence levels and, and how you work through things like that where maybe they're not going in so much. And you even had a situation like that, I guess a little bit in November. They weren't going in as easily. What kind of goes through your mind or what kind of things do you work on or do you make changes or what happens there? Yeah, I mean, ever since, like I, I started playing major Junior, everyone would always tell me like, Scouts and management here just kept telling me to use my shot more, use my shot more. And I honestly, I don't think I had like a confidence in myself to know that I had that good of a shot. I mean, I've always scored a decent amount, but I've never scored, um, an outrageous amount. And I think now, . I've been using my shot more I think already on the season. I think I have 140 or 130 shots on net. So I think all the whole covid year, I maybe had 120 and 56 games. So just shooting the puck more. I think you look at guys, you know's, got however many shots on that in his career and he is got however many goals. So obviously the more you put on that, the more they're gonna go in and yeah, it's something I work on a lot. Yeah, you just kinda have confidence. I think, um, even if you go through slumps, you just kind of gotta stick to it and keep doing your thing. And eventually the bounce is gonna go in. And I've said this before, there's so many times in the year where players have op ups and downs. Yeah. You're a consistent goal score. Everyone will score 50. Right. So, um, you know, it's, it's tough, but when you're going, when they're going your way and you're getting the bounces, You kind of get on a roll and I've been able to do that. Yeah, I'd say so. I just did the math just before we came on here, and you have 20 points in your last 16 games, and that includes the 13 game point streak, third longest in franchise history, maybe a word on the streak and uh, and, and, and, and why it's gone so well here in particularly in the last month. Not just for you, but for every. Yeah. No, it's, it's weird. I mean, when I was struggling, um, people were. all over me a little bit, asking me why I'm not producing stuff. And I just kind of kept saying, you know, like sometimes you get those bounces and you know, I remember looking back to the Covid season, I had one goal in my first 16 games of the season, and then I scored six in a row and everyone kind of forgot about it. and it's just, I feel like there's so many situations of myself and guys running the league where that happens, where you're, you'll go, you'll get a one goal in 15, and then you'll get five in the next five, and then no one will ever talk about it. So it's just, it's weird. But, uh, yeah, no, the streak was cool. Um, can't thank the boys enough. Um, There's a couple of those assists and one of them in Detroit, I remember to keep the street going. I wasn't even on the ice. I made a Braco pass and changed, and then , Alex took it all the way down the ice and hit someone to score. So, I mean, obviously there's a little bit of luck, but no, it, it was a cool run. Um, obviously wish I could have kept it going, but team was winning two at the same time, so it was just, it was awesome. . Yeah. That's the, the other part of Steve's thought there is like the team's on a roll and let's, we don't need to talk about last night, but what's changed, what's, uh, what's going here? Obviously some things are happening more on the lux side, some things are happening more on the law of averages, but there's gotta be a different feel going on here. You guys are feeling better about things. What exactly's led to this success lately? Yeah. Again, I think it comes down to just. , like certain bounces obviously, like I felt like earlier on in the year we'd be like right in the game and then one bad bounce, boom, we lose. Then we can't tie it up in the third, and then we pull a goalie and they get an empty net. Like there were so many situations like that in the first, um, 20, 25 games. And then now I think we've just been playing well. . I mean, we've been getting Google attending, um, getting a few guys back from injuries. Hopefully a couple more guys soon. And I think the new guys kind of just, um, you know, feel more comfortable at where they're at. And everyone on the team kind of just, I think, knows the role now, um, at this point in the year, we're almost halfway there, so just getting more comfortable. And, you know, we're at the point in the season where I feel like the standings. They're so close. There's like six teams from that like third spot and then the two wild current and then down. It's so tight. Like if you go on a five, six game heater say, you could be right in that mix. So I think we see that in the standings and we wanna, we know we wanna play meaningful games, uh, towards the end of the year. I mean, in the last couple years we've been out, I feel like, in February. So it's been kind of tough and we're kind of, we're kind of done with that. So we wanna, we wanna make sure we're, we're capitalizing on these chances and winning these. Obviously last night wasn't good, but good thing about the nhl. Get ready back at it tomorrow. So obviously Nashville's got a good team, so it'll be a good one. No doubt. And it's, uh, it's like, like you're talking about, you know, you're gonna have moments in an 82 game season where things just go cold for whatever reason. And it certainly, God, the Kraken just seemed like every opening on, on goal, tending that they could find, uh, the puck somehow weasel its way through there, just one of those nights and the goal tending, like you say, ha, has been really good. I wanna ask you though, about. Some of the new guys you mentioned there and uh, and Mark Kasick ends up being the fastest skater in the skills competition today. I don't imagine any of the boys saw that one coming. Yeah, it's funny, like I feel like as a big guy like Mario, say Mario for example, like he never looked like he was going fast, but he was going fast. Like I remember my dad taught me that at a young age, like see Mario there. Like he doesn't look like he's going fast, but he is actually flying. So it's a little bit deceiving. You know, he got a five seven guy out there. His legs are going a million miles an hour where see, a guy like myself or, or cast like we're, we're six three. Our stride is one. Stride is like two or three strides for those little guys, you know? So yeah, he actually won our, our, our skating competition conditioning camp. So, I mean, I know he can skate and he's in unbelievable shape. So, no, it was pretty cool. It was pretty close. I think it was like 0.2 or 0.3 from pretty much everyone else. So no, there's a lot of fast guys out there. But yeah, Cay, Cassie took her. Yeah. And I, I wanted to ask about Jake Luc, 27 year old, uh, rookie scores, his first goal, it must be exciting not only for him, but for the rest of you probably get pretty worked up over the whole thing too. Yeah, man, it's awesome. My, I mean, for me personally, I love seeing guys, uh, and his situation succeed. I mean, last. He was on an AHL deal, um, kind of got traded over from Laal, puts up a pointing game in Bellville, and I heard a lot about him. Um, I'm pretty close with a lot of the guys still down there in Bellville, along with the coaching staff and trainers, and heard a lot about the, about, uh, Jake and then obviously he got an opportunity up here and. I love seeing guys who grinded down there for so long and then finally get that chance. They come up, they're so excited. You know, the first, first per diem, first road trip on the plane. Like it just brings you back and makes you appreciate him more. When you see guys come up and see how excited they're so, it was awesome. He's got a ton of skill, uh, works hard and he's honestly just a great guy and enjoys every bit and it's been fun having him in the room and bringing that, uh, excitement every day. It's been, it's been great. Yeah, it seems like it's a, it's a fun room. That would be easy for a fun guy like that to sort of streamline himself into that. That's pretty cool. And Tim Stutz was one of those guys. And I wanna ask you about, man, you've had a great month, is, had a fantastic month at the Hatrick in that weird game against Seattle. Uh, and he's, he's only 21 as of next week. I think his birthday's actually next week. And you start thinking Drake, about where you were at, around his age. Like he must be just blown away by the leaps and bounds his development is taking right now. It's crazy. Like his first year in the league was my first year major junior. Like, it's just, it's unbelievable to think he's in his third year now. Um, and he's got even so much more to go. He is dominating right now. I, I like wait till he is like my age, 24, 25. Like, it's gonna be, it's gonna be insane. He's a, he's a rising star. He is one of those guys, one of the few guys around the lead that can take the puck in the nutri. I feel like make something happen like four or five times a period. So it's pretty, it's pretty cool. He is one of those guys, you kind of get on the edge of your seat when you're watching like MCD Davidon and these guys think they're gonna do something every shift. And he's kind of the same way. And he's kind of got that flash to him. Like my buddies come up, they, they say they just love watching him cuz he is so, so flashy. And he's so competitive too, which I love cause he had a lot of fire in him and unbelievable guy. And yeah, he's. About to turn 21, which is crazy to think. And uh, yeah, we're averaging over a point of game this year and been a huge part of our team for. We can't let you go without checking on the, uh, doctor's reports. What's, uh, what's, what's the latest on Norris? I guess Norris Mott Joseph, can you give us anything on the inside scoop there? Yeah, no, I think, uh, Joseph is, is pretty soon. I think, um, even DJ said in the media the other day, he's probably on plan the next road trip. , right. Um, as for Josh, I'm not too sure. I mean, he was out there flying around in the skills competition today, picking targets in the accuracy shooting and doing the relay races. So, I mean, he looks ready, ready to go to me, but obviously, um, with the shoulder, it, you gotta take your time and I feel like when you're ready, you're ready. You don't want to come back and be hesitant. You wanna come back and hit the ground running. I know from being a while with an injury, that's how I was. And talking with him, he's the same way. So hopefully soon, obviously it'd be a huge help. Um, you knows, top, top two line center who's making 8 million bucks, you want him in the lineup. So he's a great guy to have just in the room for the morale and on the road too. So, um, and as for Motten, I think Mott's a little bit away. Um, there's ham there and Sharky too. So there's still a little ways. But I know, I know mo skating, so he's just getting the, the bag skates cause he can't probably touch with the hands. So that's kind of tough. But, um, no, it'll pay off for hopefully back, uh, in the next few weeks too. Good. Do you, do you guys, at this stage of the game, uh, as we enter the second half of the season, do you guys talk in terms of goals? Do you even let yourself think about playoffs as a possibility if you keep playing this well? Or do you just do the old cliche thing? One shift at a time? One game at a time? Yeah. I mean, uh, I feel like when you play someone in your division, um, it's a big game. Like the Buffalo game the other night I remember they were up three points on us and say they beat. It would've been up five as four beats another only up one. So those are big games to win. Obviously we won that one. And yeah, it's weird. Like you say you win one night and a few other teams in your division all lose, like it's a, it's a big step, right? So if you can put five six together and. I mean, it's tough to hope for a team to lose three or four in your division, but you never know, right? So I mean, it is one game at a time, but obviously we're looking, looking ahead and I feel like the month we had in December, we were like, I forget the record, like nine, four and two or something like that. Like if we can do that consistently, have another month like that, see where we're at. There's a lot of hockey left. Um, so there's like over half a season or half a season, so a lot can happen, which is, which is exciting. And uh, yeah, I feel like, like when you're halfway through a season, you kind of get in that dry spell where it's not really. Like at the start of the year, everyone comes out guns and blazing, where right now we need a win game. So I feel like we're gonna continue to do that. So it's exciting and every, every night's a big. Absolutely. All right. Our chat with Drake Matherson is brought to you by Jim k Ford, and before we let you go, how are you enjoying? It's the Ford F-150, right? Yes, sir. Yeah. Nice, nice stuff. You're enjoying it. It's been great. Yeah, it's been great. Obviously it's getting a little colder, a little snow on the ground, but getting me from point A to point B nice and safe and on time, so can't complain. Drake, great to have you on as always, keep her going as we end the second half and we'll talk to you soon. Awesome. Thanks guys. Thanks for having me. All right. Thank you to Drake Bathon, that conversation, of course, brought to you by Jim k Ford. It's time now for sends trivia, ladies and gentlemen, and that is brought to you by our great friends at Kodiak Security Systems. And we're gonna go mano and mano today. There'd be no, uh, there are no stopwatch on this one. We've each got a question and we'll see how the other fares who will go. Whatever you choose, buddy. I'm, I'm good to go. All right. I will, uh, I will be the victim first, so I'll Okay. Let you, you can get answer. You can ask the question first. Let's go. Okay. The Carolina Hurricanes are presently in second place overall in the N H L. Did you know that? I did not. Okay. Well, I knew they were great. They, the second, they had the second best record in the NHL seven 13 WIN percentage. Steve? Mm-hmm. . Here's the question. Who was their sixth leading scorer? Their sixth leading scorer. Yes. What a weird question. Sixth. Not their leading score, but there's all 37 games, eight goals, 12 assist 20 points plus five. The sixth leading score on the Carolina. You either know it or you don't. Has it got a sends affiliation? Of course it does. I figured, I figured. Okay. Give it to me. I, I'm gapping Stephan Nason. Oh my God. He's the, he's got 20 points in, in 37 games for the Carolina H. It shocked me, shocked me when I saw this. Wow. That is shocking. All right. Yeah. So I'm Oh, for, oh, for one. Hope you did better than I did, ladies and gentlemen, cuz. That was awful. That was just awful. Oh, that's a tough question. I think, man, Nathan never played a single game for the Ottawa senator by, no, he did not. Tra traded in the Bobby Ryan deal back in the day. The uh, yeah, it acquired in the Mike Fisher deal, the draft. All right, my question. All right. I'm not, I was gonna give you a clue, but I'm inclined not to right now. feeling, so I'm very, feeling very spiteful and sad that I got it wrong. Okay, so back to my earlier thought on face off wins, face off win percentage, solo uas alre. So among Ottawa senators who've taken at least a hundred face offs in their Senator careers. Okay. Statistically speaking, CLO J right now is number two at 60%. Then comes the aforementioned Mark Castek, who's in third place overall, which I was impressed by. Yeah, he's got 59 in change, but there is one man who stands above both of those guys at 63.26% for his sins career. He is a Canadian Ford Centerman, obviously. Yes. And uh, I wanna know who that is and the clue is, He had a well used suitcase . Oh, so he wasn't here for, oh, Mike Sillinger. There you go. Mike Sillinger is the answer. The guys played for more teams in the N Hhl than any man in history. I believe he's up around 12 or 13. Count him off for me. Here he was with the Detroit Red Wings, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, the Connects, the flyers, the lightning, the Panthers, the senators, the blue jackets, the coyotes, the blues, the predators, the island. . And that is all. That's 12. 12. Yep. There we go. So there is the answer to the question. You win today's trivia challenge. . Mine was easier. Thank you. Yeah, it's all good. The clue was the key, right? Yes. Ah, yeah. Yeah. I was thinking, okay. 63%. Uh, is it somebody who only, oh, but it was a hundred draws, right? He had to minimum 100 Draw. Had to be 100 draws. Exactly right. Yeah, no, he probably, he probably only took about 103 So that is our sends trivia for today for Kodiak Security Systems.
